Ottawa, ON – Ron Chhinzer, Conservative Candidate for Oakville East, issued the following statement:

“Canadians have a choice on April 28th. They can choose a fourth Liberal term of crime and chaos on our streets. Violent crime is up 50%. Gun crime is up 116%.  Car theft is up 45%. Human trafficking is up 83%. And extortion is up an eye-watering 357%. And in Quebec alone, the amount of sexual offenders who are serving their sentences at home has increased by 600% since the Liberals passed their hug-a-thug laws.”

“Mark Carney has said that locking up multiple murderers for the rest of their lives is ‘dangerous”. He rejected locking up repeat, violent offenders for a minimum of ten years. And he has surrounded himself with Liberal candidates who have supported catch-and-release bail, drug legalization, and defunding the police.”

“Canada First Conservatives will stop the crime. Our plan includes measures to:

  • Impose life sentences for anyone who is convicted of serious human, gun, or fentanyl trafficking.
  • Create a new criminal offence for assaulting an intimate partner and pass a law to require the strictest possible bail conditions for anyone accused of intimate partner violence.
  • Make addiction recovery a reality for 50,000 Canadians and end the Liberals radical drug experiments.
  • Pass a Three Strikes and You’re Out law to ban bail, parole and house arrest for repeat serious criminals.
  • Lock up car thieves by increasing mandatory prison sentences to three years for a third conviction and making car theft for organized crime a specific aggravating factor.
  • Restore the power for judges to keep multiple murderers behind bars for longer than 25 years by allowing consecutive periods of parole ineligibility.
  • Impose tough new fines and mandatory prison sentences for scamming seniors.

“Only a new Conservative government will stop the crime, lock up dangerous criminals, and give repeat violent offenders jail, not bail. Only Conservatives will bring home safe streets for law-abiding Canadians–For a Change.”
