Save Quebec Forestry Jobs

Whereas Justin Trudeau and his Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault want to block the harvesting of several thousand square kilometres of Quebec forests as the outcome of a federal decree on woodland caribou;

Whereas Quebec Conservative MPs have been fighting tooth and nail for several months to force Justin Trudeau’s government to put an end to this radical decree in order to prioritize the needs of the population;

Whereas this radical decree encroaches on Quebec’s jurisdiction in this matter;

Whereas Justin Trudeau’s radical decree jeopardizes the future of several communities and thousands of forestry jobs in Quebec;

Whereas according to a Justin Trudeau government report, this radical decree would cause the Quebec and Canadian economies to lose up to $900 million through the closure of dozens of businesses; and

Whereas Common Sense Conservatives understand that it’s possible to protect the environment while also protecting jobs.

Therefore, we the undersigned call on the Liberal government to end its Ottawa-knows-best approach, respect provincial jurisdiction, and let the Government of Quebec make decisions affecting the jobs and livelihoods of Quebecers.
