“Today, Kurdish communities across Canada will gather to mark the start of a new year. For countless generations, Newroz has been a chance to look ahead with hope for the future – and to leave the darkness of the past behind.
“With a history dating back millennia, today, Kurds continue to carry their timeless traditions forward by illuminating their communities with bonfires and fireworks, symbolizing the promise of longer and brighter days ahead.
“As families come together to welcome the spring, we reflect on the themes of return and renewal. In particular, we look with hope to the future of our common Canadian home: one where people of all faiths and backgrounds can live in peace and security.
